Team Manager under 17s: Ian Puckett

Ryan Birt Under U17 Trophy

 Friday 14th May v Kidderminster (A)

Kidderminster batted first and following the early dismissal of Rudd when their score was on 12, progressed at a good pace as a result of some excellent batting from Platt and Brighton. Platt in particular showed sound technique with some assured on and off drives. It wasn't until the 15th over when Nomads secured their second wicket with Brighton caught at mid-on by Ford off the bowling of Puckett. Ford then got into the wickets and took an excellent 4 for 13 off his 4 overs. James Smith also bowled with his usual accuracy and threat, with creditable figures of 1 for 11 of his 4 overs. Kidderminster finished their innings at 114 for 7.

Kidderminster applied the pressure right from the start and fielded magnificently throughout the Nomads innings. Wickets fell at fairly regular intervals and whilst always slightly ahead of the rate, Nomads never really took control of the match. Smith opened and had contributed 33 to the total when he unluckily pulled straight to the only fielder at mid-wicket. Robert's was left to see Nomads home with some very mature batting and running between the wickets, ending on 40 not out as Watkins saw Nomads home off the last ball of the innings with a well executed inside edge down to fine leg.  Kidderminster were superb hosts and mainly as a result of their splendid effort in the field, ensured this was a very competitive and exciting match.
